My baby boy who has just turned 7 months old hasn’t yet mastered the word Mummy but at the beginning of January that’s what I became.
Before I was Mummy I was Mrs Karma I enjoyed a great job sharing a beautiful office with one of my dearest friends. I was respected and had responsibility everyone knew my name, Mrs Karma. Mrs Karma was at work very early 7.30am and worked hard. Mrs Karma was needed and very good at her job. Mrs Karma was somebody. Now Mrs Karma no longer, she is only just Mummy.
Mummy has now become a personal assistant and a head chef. Mummy finds that now days can start that little bit earlier around 12.01am sometimes a little after at 1am. Mummy sleeps only when allowed to do so and can be woken at any time during the night. Mummy doesn’t get scheduled break times and at the drop of a hat she may be required to perform one of her array of Mummy duties. Mummy’s A Level in dance has become highly desirable and often can transform herself into a performing seal with a singing voice. Mummy also found out that this position isn’t remunerated at all. Since Mummy has taken on this position even the most personal activities like visiting the bathroom often will be accompanied. Mummy works with her dependent to come up with a suitable time table of activities. Mummy can often be required to carrier the dependent a number of times a day. The position is 365 days of the year.
Some with this level of work place demand would be called CEO but those who are at home with dependents and don’t work they call just Mummy.
Happy Thursday Friends!
