Community Orchard

This morning my husband Tinkerbell and I went to our local fruit orchard which we have never before visited.  The orchard is maintained by the local community, with some of the devoted members busy as work trimming branches and generally making the orchard and surrounding grounds very beautiful.

Tinkerbell walked some of the way to the orchard and walked around most of the orchard and surrounding grounds without her lead.  I’m usually very nervous of allowing her to go unleaded but since see is a little slower because of her little back legs.  When my husband took her lead off as a was picking black berries I wasn’t concerned at all as she walked beautifully in between my husband who lead the way and myself who kept stopping to black berry pick.

Sadly I only managed to pick a small amount of black berries and used them with some of the apples from our garden and some Sainsburys frozen fruits to make a crumble for dinner.

I also made a shepherds pie with steamed vegetables and mini flap jacks as part of my cooking afternoon.

I enjoyed moving furniture around in my house but since being pregnant I’ve not taken part in this activity however this afternoon decided that I would move the hall table into the dining room and the dining room cabinet into the hall.

After my little furniture move which I found rather refreshing I decided to have five minutes rests with Tinkerbell who was extremely deserving after she a great morning of orchard exploration, before we spent the evening with our lovely dinner guests.
