Tinkerbell our precious miniature dachshund
is still unable to walk due to her back/back legs. However she is stretching her back legs occasionally which is fantastic and she is definitely enjoying her time resting.
Tinkerbell on Sunday whilst she was in her cage when we were at Church for a couple of hours ended up losing a toenail which was very unfortunate indeed. We are obviously unclear how it happened but assume that when she was becoming stressed and anxious being left alone it must of got caught on the cage.
Today we had an appointment with the back specialist at the vets. The specialist took time to assess Tinkerbell and Tinkerbell took time to wee a great deal on his floor.
We also explained about her toenail and we have been caring for it correctly.
With regards to Tinkerbell’s back the specialist said on a scale of 1 – 5 which they use to measure these support of issues he with 5 being the worse he gave Tinkerbell 3 however it would be 2 if he could of seen signs of her stretching like we have seen at home which is excellent.
We jointly concluded that we would wait a further 4 weeks which is the time needed for complete rest and then assess the situation.
Tinkerbell doesn’t appear to be in pain and in two days will stop her medication but continue with the important rest needed for a possible recovery and our current routine of care for her.
Due to Tinkerbell’s care requirements we have put together three boxes one on each floor.
The box on the main floor included shampoo as we had to on a number of occasions give her a doggy bubble bath in the utility room sink.
Each box contains wet wipes, puppy pads, kitchen paper, doggy do bags and blanket. This box if left in the utility room the next box is left by the patio doors on the lower level and the third is kept in our bedroom which is to hand for night time issues that may arise.
Hopefully in my next Tinkerbell update I’ll have even better news to share… Keep praying for her.
Happy Wednesday Friends!
