Bollywood to Black and White

Meeting a once Bollywood film director, pastor and now artist could be a very daunting experience but meeting Ramesh Darji for the very first time a couple of years ago in his home was anything but.

Ramesh and his beautiful wife Paula invited my husband and I into their lovely home.  I remember sitting in his dining room which was surrounded by many of Ramesh’s wonderful paintings.

Ramesh has such a wonderful warmth about him and to have him guide my husband and I through his portfolio and talk about the techniques he had used as a once trained art student myself it was a privilege.

The work of Ramesh I most like is his ‘Black and White’ work which was unveiled to the public in his first exhibition back in 1982 which was held in his birth country and home of Bollywood India.

After meeting his wife Paula and moving to Holland his work became as he describes ‘bold, clear colours and subtle metaphors’

Ramesh’s bright work is wonderful however my love for his creativity is captivated by the ‘Black and White’ paintings depicting Indian people with small injections of colour which seem to cry out with the passion and romantic vibrancy of Bollywood.

My husband and I also had the privilege of Ramesh and his wife into our home and later joined them in the wedding celebration of their eldest daughter in a moving east meets west ceremony.

Ramesh not only holds a beauty within his artwork but warmth within his art and a passion for art and most importantly the creator of all beauty, God.
