When Tinkerbell first arrived at our home my husband didn’t really have very much to do with her however this quickly changed and Tinkerbell managed to squeeze her way into my husbands heart.
With monthly medication to protect her, seasonal medication for her allergic reaction to grass! Her yearly booster and anything else she may need.
I feed Tinkerbell a set diet with measured meals one in the morning and one in the evening. As Tinkerbell’s back is very long It’s even more important to ensure that she doesn’t become over weight. Tinkerbell has a mixture of kibble and wet food with a little drop off cod liver oil for animals.
A little while ago Tinkerbell began loosing the fur on her ears mainly on one side I was so worried and after many trips to my our very wonderful vet and trying many different shampoos and creams said that they were unable to do anything more and not to worry as it was a dachshund trait. Another member of the Karma family also owns a mini dachshund and had said that rubbing ginger on the dogs ear would help heal her ear (a Chinese remedy). It not only has helped their dog whose ears had been terribly worse than Tinkerbell’s but it has also helped our little lady.
Before we began rubbing ginger on Tinkerbell’s ear it has become very dry and felt extremely thin it had also started to bleed at the edges. Once we began using the ginger her fur has begun to grow back and her ear feels just as firm as the other and no longer bleeds. The best thing about the regime is that it virtually costs nothing just the price of ginger your time and perseverance.
Keep calm and use ginger!
